What about Winter Fun in Virginia Beach you ask? The answer is that the beach is fun in all seasons of the year. In fact even though Virginia Beach gets a snowstorm every now and then overall our climate is very nice all throughout the year in comparison to a lot of places in the world.
Take a look at the average temperatures for each month (High /Low/ Avg.-H2O Temperature)
Ice-Skating at the Virginia Beach Farmers Market is a Must -Do Attraction!
There’s nothing like a little ice skating to get you in the holiday spirit and now…there’s a new outdoor ice skating rink in Virginia Beach!
For the first time ever, VB ICE will open at the Virginia Beach Farmers Market on Dam Neck Road.
You can take a spin on this new rink for $7 per person, $5 for military (plus an $8 skate rental if you don’t have a pair of your own).
The rink will be open Monday through Thursday from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., Fridays from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. and on Sundays from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Holiday Lights on the Boardwalk is a Big-Hit Every Year!
It goes without saying that one of the most popular events every Fall/Winter in Virginia Beach is the annual Holiday Lights at the Beach . There is nothing better than checking out the Holiday Lights from the comfort of your car as you drive right down one of America’s most famous boardwalks. The event runs for a long-time so you have plenty of time to catch both the Holiday Lights and The Oceanfront Ice Park this holiday. The Holiday Lights run from November 21 thru January 3. And the Holiday Lights has some fame as well because it earned a spot in the “Top 100 Events in North America for 2011!” Since then the event has continued to grow and expand and dazzle families from all over the world. It is a must-do in Virginia Beach during the Winter. Over 30,000 families come to take that Holiday drive down the Virginia Beach Boardwalk. It is of course the only time anyone is allowed to cruise down the boardwalk in your vehicle, and that is fun in itself.
That Occasional Winter Snowstorm at the Beach
Well even though Virginia Beach has a mild climate throughout most of the year we do get that sporadic Winter-time storm that is normally the result of a big coastal storm when cold enough temperatures are in place. The result is kind of awesome if you ask me. The beach becomes a “Winter Wonderland” and as long as you just “bundle-up” and be careful you can get out on the beach and see it in a whole new light. I have been able to witness some of the bigger snowstorms that only happen a “handful” of times here in Virginia Beach. The best part to me is that it is exciting to see the beach in all the different seasons. In Virginia Beach you can experience fun regardless of the season. The only key is know what to wear. The excitement of being right by the ocean makes Virginia Beach a favorite destination for families from all over the world. It continues to grow and develop for the better each and every year! Happy Holidays to our visitors. The only thing left to do now is get down to Virginia Beach for some fun and relaxation.
