Virginia Beach: A Weed Enthusiast’s Take on Coastal Relaxation

When I decided to visit Virginia Beach, I knew it wouldn’t be a typical weed-friendly vacation spot, given the state’s strict public consumption laws. But that didn’t stop me from exploring this coastal city’s best attractions. Here’s how I made the most of my stay.

1. Relax and Rejuvenate at the Iconic Virginia Beach Boardwalk

The Virginia Beach Boardwalk, stretching for three miles along the oceanfront, is a vibrant hotspot where the city’s pulse truly comes alive. I kicked off my trip here, soaking in the sights, sounds, and smells of the Atlantic. Street performers, unique shops, and plenty of oceanfront dining made it easy to forget that I couldn’t light up. Instead, I enjoyed some herbal tea from a local café and took in the atmosphere as the waves gently rolled in. If you’re visiting during the Neptune Festival, don’t miss the sand sculptures and live music!

2. Outdoor Adventures: Parks and Water Sports

Virginia Beach offers more than just sandy shores. I ventured into First Landing State Park, where miles of trails wind through lush forests and marshes. The park was less crowded, allowing me to find a secluded spot to enjoy the tranquil surroundings. For those craving water activities, Rudee Inlet is the place to be. Jet skiing, parasailing, or even deep-sea fishing—all within a short distance from the main beach area. Although I had to forgo a smoke on the water, the adrenaline rush from parasailing more than made up for it!

3. Explore Local History at the Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center

For a break from the sun, I visited the Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center. Home to thousands of sea creatures and interactive exhibits, the aquarium is a great option for families or those looking to connect with marine life. The nearby Adventure Park also offers ziplining and treetop climbing for those seeking a bit of adventure. I found myself engrossed in the exhibits—sharks, sea turtles, and a captivating walk through the “Red Sea Tunnel.”

4. Indulge in the Culinary Scene: Local Seafood and Coastal Cuisine

No visit to Virginia Beach is complete without indulging in the local culinary scene. From fresh-caught seafood to unique coastal cuisine, every meal felt like a highlight. I dined at one of the oceanfront restaurants overlooking the water and tried the famous Virginia clam chowder, followed by some oysters and crab cakes. The city is also known for its craft breweries, and although I didn’t have a joint to pair, sampling a local brew with dinner was the next best thing.

5.Unwind on the Serene Sandbridge Beach

To escape the crowds, I spent a day at Sandbridge Beach, a peaceful oasis just 15 miles south of the main beachfront. Sandbridge is perfect for a more tranquil beach experience—no bustling boardwalk, just miles of pristine sands and gentle waves. I set up my beach chair, opened a book, and let the serene environment wash over me. Though smoking wasn’t an option, the beach’s calmness was the ultimate relaxation.

Finding Weed-Friendly Alternatives

Even though public consumption is prohibited, private accommodations are a great way to enjoy your cannabis responsibly. A number of visitors bring products like fastbuds to grow discreetly indoors or in private outdoor gardens, adding a green touch to their beach retreat.

Final Thoughts

Even though Virginia Beach isn’t the most weed-friendly destination due to public consumption laws, it still offers countless ways to unwind and connect with the coastal lifestyle. Stick to private accommodations or designated areas for smoking, and take advantage of the many attractions that make Virginia Beach special. Enjoy the sights, savor the seafood, and let the beach vibes lift your spirits!  🌿🏖️
