The VABeach.com website has a lot of events displayed for the Virginia Beach area, however sometimes not all events need to be listed under the “major events” category.  We can’t possibly keep up with all of the smaller events that are going on all around Virginia Beach.  Live music events in bars and clubs, shopping events, local activities and small holiday events are all things that people want to know about but might not warrant a listing on our major events page.

FaceBook to the rescue!

We can now list all of your FaceBook events on our site and keep them categorized!

There are 2 main ways to get your FaceBook Events Feed displayed on our website:

1. Microsite Page – We will display your FaceBook Posts, Photos and Events on your microsite page.  Here is an example of a microsite page for Eagles Nest Country Bar and Grill
2. Event Feeds on Pages – We will be displaying live FaceBook Event feeds on various pages throughout the site depending on the category. For example, we will be displaying Bars and Nightlife events on the Bars, Bands and Nightlife Events Page.

Use Our Traffic to Broaden Your Reach!

VABeach.com gets millions of visitors per month and they all want to know what is going on all over Virginia Beach.  Your business’ FaceBook Page is a great way to get the event posted on the internet, but no one is going to see it unless they go to your FaceBook Events Page.

People flock to our events pages! Allow us to showcase your event to the millions of visitors and locals who are looking for something to do and blow your exposure through the roof!

HOW TO GET YOUR FACEBOOK EVENTS LISTED

Rules and Guidelines you need to follow in order for us to showcase your FaceBook events on our website:

• You must be a current advertising client of VABeach.com
• Your FaceBook Events option must be activated by VABeach.com in our administration area.
• Your FaceBook Account must not have any restrictions and it must be set to “PUBLIC”.  (these are the default settings for FaceBook)
• You must have a valid Business FaceBook Page (not just a personal account page)
• You must “categorize” your FaceBook Events by using one or more of the following #hashtags in your event listing.

  • Usable HASHTAGS

    • #vabeachnightlife – This hashtag is for events that pertain to bars, clubs, bands and other nightlife events. For example, if you are having live music at your restaurant or bar, you would use this.
    • #vabeachshopping – This hashtag is for events that pertain to shopping events. For example, if you are having a “Everything Must Go Sale” or a “Grand Opening” at your local shop you would use this.
    • #vabeachholiday – This hashtag is for events that pertain to holidays. For example, if you are having an “Easter Egg Hunt”  you would use this.
    • #vabeachkids – This hashtag is for events that pertain to activites and fun for kids (under 18 years of age). For example, if you are having a “Water Balloon Fight”  you would use this.
    • #vabeachoutdoors – This hashtag is for events that are generally located outdoors for adults. For example, if you are having a “Beach Party”  or a “Paddleboard Race” you would use this.
    • #vabeachfundraiser – This hashtag is for fundraising events. For example, if you are having a “Charity Auction” you would use this.
  • HASHTAG NOTES:
    • You MUST use at least one of the above hashtags or else your event will NOT appear on our site.
    • You may use more than one hashtag in your FaceBook Event listing.  In the examples above, an “Easter Egg Hunt” could use both the #vabeachcomholiday and the #vabeachcomkids hashtags and would appear under both categories.
    • Purposefully abusing the hashtag category rules (i.e.. using it in a category where it doesn’t belong in order to try to increase exposure to your event) will be grounds for possible removal of your account from our FaceBook Feed.
    • If you feel that your event doesn’t fit any of the above hashtags and you would like to suggest a new hashtag, please contact us at 757-460-9000 to discuss.
