Its one of my life dreams to see the ocean and tide pools etc Virginia Beach is closest what kind of oceanlife would you see on the beach?
A:
Hi Miranda,
The Virginia Beach oceanfront is a crowded beach that is meant for tourists to enjoy the ocean and beach. It is not meant to be a wildlife preserve or encourage wild animals to come close to shore (although it is not discouraged either). Due to the many beach-goers, wildlife may tend to stay away from the immediate oceanfront area.
The oceanfront beach area is straight and consistent where the tide meets the sand. There are no commonly occurring tidal pools or other areas that collect wildlife more than others. There is more than a good chance that you will see dolphins swimming offshore, crabs and jellyfish or other small fish jumping within view from the beach front.
We do have some local parks and wooded areas, parks and bays where other wildlife can be seen if you are lucky enough.
If you are interested in seeing aquatic wildlife, we highly recommend that you visit the Virginia Beach Aquarium. It is located just 1.5 miles south of our oceanfront resort area and is a fantatic place to see what wildlife lives in and around Virginia Beach!
