Q: Is it against the law to cookout on the beach?

Asked by: Tashay E.

A:

Hi Tashay,

Yes it is illegal to have an open flame on the Virginia Beach main oceanfront resort area without a permit.

You are not allowed to have a cooking top (electric, gas or otherwise), grill, campfire, etc… anywhere on the oceanfront beach area at any time.

You may want to consider staying in one of the Camping Areas if you are looking to cook your own meals on an open flame.
