Q: Is swimming still allowed after Labor Day?

Added Details:

Would like to come down this week while weather is still hot.

A:

Hi Nell,

Yes, swimming is allowed after Labor Day.  In fact, you can swim in Virginia Beach all year!  We even have a Polar Plunge in February!

However, keep in mind, if you are not swimming during the peak tourist season, the lifeguard towers may not be on the beach in all of their locations for added safety.

GENERAL LIFEGUARD HOURS AND DATES:

Lifeguards are on duty from 9:30am-6:00pm daily from mid-May to mid-Sept. between 1st and 41st Streets and at Camp Pendleton, Croatan, Sandbridge & JEBLC Fort Story beaches.

In May and September their hours and patrols are limited.

You can find out more about VIRGINIA BEACH LIFEGUARD LOCATIONS.

We hope this helps answer your question and that you HAVE A GREAT DAY AT THE BEACH!
